Navy in recognition of outstanding service and professional skill.The Excellent Submariner badge (Russian: Отличный подводник) was officially instituted in 1942, as part of a broader series of proficiency insignia introduced for sailors and non-commissioned officers of the Soviet Red Fleet during the Great Patriotic War. This example dates to 1950s production and was manufactured by a Moscow maker.Awarded for exceptional ability in underwater navigation and manoeuvring, exemplary maintenance and operation of onboard systems, accuracy in torpedo deployment, effective execution of covert patrol missions, and personal courage under combat conditions.The badge features the hammer and sickle within a red enamelled central medallion, encircled by a white enamel title ring, with gilt detailing and relief work to the wreath and shield. The reverse retains its original screw-back fitting with spinner, correctly marked for Moscow production.Condition:Good original condition. Enamel is well preserved.
