Germany – Order of the Lion, 1st Class Colonial Decoration Breast Badge (South West Africa)An original German Lion Order colonial breast badge, issued in connection with service relating to German South West Africa, and associated with the post–First World War colonial veterans’ movement.The Lion Order (commonly referred to as the Löwenorden, though more accurately known as the Kolonialauszeichnung) was instituted in 1922 by the German Colonial Veterans League (Deutscher Kolonialkriegerbund). This example represents the 1st Class award, produced in white metal and intended to be worn as a breast badge.On the reverse, the badge is inscribed “In memoriam”. Below, the maker is marked “GES. GESCH.” (Gesetzlich Geschützt – legally protected), along with the stamped issue number “Nr. 34162”. The original vertical pin fastening remains intact and functional.Condition:Good original condition. Details remain clear and sharp.
