Germany Eastern Peoples Decoration, 1st Class in Gold (Without Swords)An original German Eastern Peoples Decoration, 1st Class in Gold without Swords, awarded during the Second World War period. The Eastern Peoples Decoration (Ostvolk-Auszeichnung) was instituted in 1942 to recognise service and merit among non-German personnel and collaborators from Eastern Europe who supported the German war effort. The 1st Class in Gold, worn as a breast badge, represented a high level of merit or service. The absence of swords denotes a non-combatant award, typically associated with administrative, political, or organisational contribution rather than frontline combat. This example is of correct form, struck in gilt finish with the characteristic eight-pointed star design and central emblem. The gold finish has toned and faded with age, as commonly encountered, but the badge remains complete and structurally sound. The reverse retains its original pin fastening, intact and functional.Condition:Good original condition. The gilt finish has faded with age, consistent with period manufacture, but overall detail remains clear. Complete with original pin fitting (please see photographs for exact condition).A desirable Third Reich-period decoration, suitable for collections of German Second World War medals, Eastern Front history, political awards, or Axis-era decorations.Explore our full range of other world military badges and insignia here.
